How is a toddler going to transport “Hedgie” the hedgehog, a juice box and 3 crayons, while still keeping a hand free to hold onto nana?

How is a mum going to walk down the street and look completely chic while carrying five diapers and a sippy cup?

How can a grade-school student carry 3 textbooks, a box-lunch, and a note from mom in the coolest disguise possible?

These are the sort of questions that fascinate us at Dante Beatrix.

We make goods that are functional, beautifully made, and have a quirky charm all of their own. Things that mix a childlike sense of wonder and humor with a modern sensibility. After all, even if you’re a tax-paying, 401K contributing adult, shouldn’t you be allowed to have a bit of fun?

Dante Beatrix is created by three designers with complementary skills and a unified vision. We operate out of a cozy office in downtown Manhattan, where we’re kept company by our canine mascot, Trixie. We design products together, over a daily lunchtime pow-wow.

Dante Pauwels: Founder
Dante has created best-selling products for Martha Stewart (e.g., the ubiquitous rubber tote bag) and two pieces from her personal work are part of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. She has a master’s in product design from Stanford. Wow.

Claire Theobald: Partner
Claire has designed museum exhibits and branded environments for award-winning firms such as Tigerman McCurry Architects, Ralph Appelbaum Associates, and Ogilvy & Mather. She has master’s degrees in both architecture and graphic design from Yale. Ooo la la.

Marcus Woolcott: Partner
Marcus has spent most of his professional life traveling the world as a creative director in advertising. He’s lived in London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. His high-flying career has now brought him back to New York where he spends his time designing monkeys. Niiiice.
